This is a program coordinated by Hands On Community Networks aimed at leadership and life skill training through peer mentoring, leadership development, civic engagement, a conducive learning environment and community development. Participants of the program belonged to community-based organisations such as the Central Youth Council (CYC) of Jenta Adamu Ward in Jos North LGA, Jenta Reads, 9ja sports outreach and Voice of the Youth Initiative. The program was organised to encourage networking, learning, knowledge exchange and mentoring among the participants. It also created a means for participants to identify organisational and collective strengths as well as opportunities to work together and have a collective voice. The youth mentoring program was taken to various communities by the participants to further impart knowledge and develop skills and opportunities for their communities

Impact

  1. Human capacity development: Through the sponsorship of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in partnership with HANCON, eight (8) youths from Central Youth Council (CYC) Jenta Adamu Ward Jos North and Voice of the Youth Initiative were identified and provided with start-up capital for businesses. Beneficiaries included individuals who set up businesses in tailoring, plumbing, popcorn and carpentry.

2. Personal growth and development: Youth from Jenta Reads were engaged in recreational activities such as volleyball, basketball, table tennis etc. Their hope was to have reading clubs
